Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Investor Relations
Mr. Thomas joined Horizon Pharma in May 2015 as executive vice president, corporate strategy and investor relations. Prior to joining Horizon Pharma, Mr. Thomas served as vice president, investor relations and public affairs for Abbott Laboratories and president of the Abbott Fund. Mr. Thomas held various management positions at Abbott after joining the company in 1995, and was a corporate officer and member of the company’s senior executive staff from 2005 to 2014. Wall Street analysts and investors voted Mr. Thomas one of the top investor relations officers for medical devices during his Abbott career. Mr. Thomas was directly responsible for more than 75 quarterly earnings reports, conference calls and strategic company announcements. He has extensive experience in all forms of M&A communications, crisis management, integrated marketing communications, employee communications and executive speech writing.
Prior to Abbott, Mr. Thomas served from 1993 to 1995 as manager of corporate communications for Mallinckrodt Veterinary and manager of employee communications for Budget Rent-A-Car, both based in the Chicago area. From 1986 to 1993, Mr. Thomas served as an editor and senior writer for Meredith Corporation in New York and then Des Moines. After graduating from college, Mr. Thomas was founder, publisher and editor of The Oxford Times newspaper in Oxford, MS.
Mr. Thomas received his B.A. in journalism from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, and an M.B.A. from The Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in Lake Forest, Illinois. Mr. Thomas is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and serves on the Board of Professional Directors for the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi. He was previously the vice chairman of the Conference Board’s Senior Council of Investor Relations Executives.
