POLYMYALGIA RHEUMATICA
Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is an inflammatory disorder involving aching and stiffness in patients over the age of 50 typically affecting the shoulders and arms. Similar to rheumatoid arthritis, the symptoms associated with PMR such as stiffness are worse in the morning as compared to the rest of the day. However, unlike rheumatoid arthritis, glucocorticoid therapy is the most effective treatment currently available.
