Joe Whalen
Vice President, Business Development & Alliance Management
Joe Whalen is vice president, business development and licensing at Horizon Pharma. Mr. Whalen has more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry leading and supporting transactions involving acquisitions and strategic alliances. He was most recently director of global business development at Baxter Healthcare where he led numerous transactions.
Prior to Baxter, Mr. Whalen worked at Searle where he played a key role in the negotiation of the Celebrex® co-promotion agreement with Pfizer. His experience encompassed various finance roles supporting business development, European operations, U.S. marketing (Daypro®), and research and development. He has a MBA from the University of Illinois and bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
